Katowice Music Radar is a series of meetings for the members of regional musical community and, more generally, people interested in the development of music in Katowice. The meetings will concern various aspects pertaining to music itself as well as the execution of the creative programme Katowice – UNESCO City of Music in our city. It is also a discussion platform for those who would like to co-create the musical space of both the city and the region.

For the 4th meeting of Katowice Music Radar, Minna Huuskonen – agent and manager from Helsinki was invited. Our guest presented the issue of communication between music promoters and artists. Practical advices from the music industry was presented by the presentation “Musicians and promoters – art of communication”.
On April 24 at the third meeting of the Katowice Music Radar, Janek Taraszkiewicz, stage manager and producer, working with festivals like Męskie Granie among others, talked about good and effective practices during the performance of outdoor concerts and festivals. They were moved topics such as concepts related to scene organization (FOH, PA, IEM, backline, risers, lightplot, etc.), preparation of a good rider, linecheck vs soundcheck and how to avoid crisis situations during concerts.
The second edition of the meetings took place on March 20. This time under the radar we took copyright issues in the music. Lecture entitled “What and who is protected by the law on the music market – basic issues” was conducted by the Secretary of the Board of the Association of Artists and Performers STOART – Mr. Wincenty Krawczyk. The second part of the meeting was devoted to presentations and discussions.
The Katowice Music Radar was launched on February 13, 2017. During the first meeting of KMR representatives of the musical environment of the city and the region had a chance to familiarize themselves with the draft of the new regulations of the music education program and to increase their knowledge of music projects implemented by the City of Gardens, such as: District Sound Good, Silesian Blues Route or JazzArt Festival. Also invited guests – Piotr Gacek – talked about the project Silesia Video Sessions, and the beneficiary of the first edition of Musicgrants – Magdalena Angulska – on the tour Max Bravura Tour.
